Der Hörrohrwürger ist eine audio-skulpturale Installation einer neuen kommunikativen „Pflanzenart“. Ihre Besonderheit besteht darin, dass sie wild wuchernd alle Hindernisse überwindet, die die „Wahrheit“ verdecken oder behindern. Mit ihren Blütenkelchen, den Hörrohren, erreicht sie unmittelbar das Ohr und gibt die unverpackte „Wahrheit“ akustisch wieder.
„Wahrheit“ ist hier die erfahrene Wirklichkeit im Gegensatz zu einer manipulierten und frisierten Zweckdarstellung. Dies setzt eine gründliche Recherche zum Thema voraus, verbunden mit speziellen Interviewtechniken.
Die Installation besteht aus drei Teilen:
Die skulpturale Arbeit, die akustische Vermittlung und die Gewinnung und Bearbeitung des inhaltlichen Materials.

Der Hörrohrwürger I entstand auf Platform3 aus einem Projekt, indem die dort tätigen Künstler sich mit ihren Arbeiten vorstellen sollten. Dabei wurde schnell deutlich, dass die gespürte künstlerische Bestimmung einen tieferen und vielfältigeren Zugang zum Verständnis der jeweiligen künstlerischen Arbeit ermöglicht - dies im Gegensatz zu den üblichen kunstwissenschaftlichen Folien. Die Installation war im Gang angebracht und die Besucher konnten, bevor sie die Ateliers betraten, mittels der Hörrohre mehr über die wirklichen Hintergründe künstlerischen Arbeitens der jeweiligen Ateliernutzer erfahren.

Die Ausführung dieses Projektthemas wurde im März 2010 anlässlich der Open Studios und der Ausstellung „Works“ auf Platform3 in München gezeigt.
Die Installation bestand aus sich verzweigenden Flexrohren, Vuvuzelas und Audioclips (Toncollagen aus Musik und Interviewfragmente). Sie war 25 Meter lang und hatte insgesamt 10 Akustikstationen, bzw. Hörrohre.





Strangling Ear Trumpet

The “Strangling Ear Trumpet“ is an audio-sculptural installation representing a new form of communicative plant-life. The special feature of this suffocating vine is that it overcomes all obstacles that cloud or impede the “Truth“. With its sepals, its sound canals, it reaches the ear and deposits acoustically the unadulterated “Truth“.

“Truth“, in this case, is experienced reality as opposed to a manipulated and trimmed representation of it. This is obtained through deep research and special interview techniques.
The installation is comprised of three parts:
The sculptural work itself,
the acoustic delivery,
the collection and processing of the content.

Strangling Ear Trumpet I came about through a project at Platform3 in which artists had to present themselves along with their work. It became clear that the emotionally experienced identification with their artistic work allowed a far deeper access to the understanding of it than would be possible through, for example, traditional academic art interpretations. Once implemented, visitors were allowed insights into the true backgrounds of the artistic work of studio residents through the acoustic tendrils.

The project was completed in March 2010 during the “Open Studios“ and the exhibition, “Works“, at Platform3 in Munich.
The installation comprised of interconnected, branching flexitubes, “Vuvuzelas“, and audio clips (Audio collages of music and interview fragments). It was 25 metres long and had 10 acoustic stations or “Ear Trumpets“.
